These were experimental pieces, and I made construction decisions on the fly. All three pillowcases were made in one morning with no formal plan – just a stack of fabric and the desire to make something.
The two Pokémon-themed pillowcases came together in a single morning using pre-printed holiday fabric. The fabric features repeating panels of characters like Pikachu, Jigglypuff, and Eevee in seasonal outfits, arranged in a grid over a green background.
Since the fabric was uniform and required no matching at seams, I focused on fast, functional construction. I used a basic envelope-style closure, sewing three straight seams and turning the cases inside out.
The third pillowcase was an improvisation, using two visually distinct fabrics joined horizontally. The top section is a vibrant aurora borealis print in deep purples, blues, and greens. The lower half is a sunset lake landscape with Van Gogh-like swirling skies and saturated colors.
