Embroidered Sun and Moon using Printed Fabric

Just a little something I’m working on to improve my muscle memory.

This Sun and Moon embroidery piece started with pre-printed fabric that already had a gold celestial design. I used the fabric as a guide, stitching directly over the sun’s rays with a thread that had a yellow gradient.

The face of the sun was outlined in a thread that had red and orange gradient, to define the circular border. What I’m currently working on is filling in what would be muscle structure if the face was human. Not sure what I’m gonna do next with it.

For the moon, I am experimenting with directional fills. I used tighter stitches for facial features and looser coverage for the shading.
